What is the point of writing a post? You want to help people with something, right? Maybe it’s a recipe so they have an idea for dinner, or how to tile a shower or how to write an amazing blog post. The point is that you want to help them do something.
You need to get their attention, though, you’re not going to help anyone if they don’t WANT to read your post. If it doesn’t catch their eye and make them stop and click that link, it’s pointless. That applies to absolutely every type of traffic – search or social media.
Let me tell you a few tips on how you’re going to get going, writing amazing blog posts.
The Secret to Writing Amazing Blog Posts
The Secrets Post
This post is a prime example of the secrets post. What is it about secrets that everyone wants to know about them? It’s kind of like gossip, everyone wants to know.
Any headline on Pinterest with, “secret,” “one thing” or “this way” always gets me to click! Try using it in your post!
A Round-Up Post
Most of you know what a round up post is but let me explain briefly. A round up post is just that, a roundup of several posts on one topic. It could be 5 Places to Find Virtual Assistant Jobs or something more like The Best Easter Recipes. These are posts with a round up on one topic. There’s several different blogs or websites that are listed in the post that creates this roundup.
The bigger the roundup, the better! Can you imagine a post with 100 Brownie Recipes, you better believe I’ll be clicking on that one.
List Posts
This is similar to the round up post. When you can give people a lot of tips in one giant blog post, it saves them time, which becomes highly valuable when they don’t have a ton of time to start with.
These are just a couple secrets to writing an amazing blog post! Remember these tips too!
- Start with a Great Title – catch their attention right away!
- What’s the purpose of the post – make it apparent!
- The first couple sentences are where you “sell” the post! Make sure you’re engaging and relatable!
- Have a call to action at the end of the post! Tell people what you want them to do after they’ve read your post.
What are your top posts and what is it that people like about it? Can you create more like them and drive more traffic to your site?
