Tips For an Organized Freezer

March 13, 2017   |   Leave a Comment

An Organized freezer is easier than you think! I know that the thought of getting your cold freezer cleaned out and under control is not appealing but we have some tips and products that will make it easier to find everything you need! Even with a bottom drawer freezer!

Tips For an Organized Freezer

We open our fridge and pull things out several times a day, but our freezers just do not get that much use. So, things tend to get “lost” in that deep dark cold abyss. I’ll take the time to clean out the fridge but the freezer is a different story! I dread it and completely avoid it as long as possible.

That is until I found some great ways to keep it organized and under control. We have two different types of refrigerators so I have a bottom drawer freezer and a top freezer. They are two completely different spaces that need to be organized differently. You can check out our post on Organizing a Bottom Drawer Freezer for a few more tips and tricks!

Tips For an Organized Freezer

Start by taking EVERYTHING out of the Freezer!

Don’t worry, this isn’t going to take long so their’s no worry of food spoiling. You can always stick things in the fridge if you’re worried, though.

Put all the food into groups. You’ll likely have frozen veggies, meat, ice cream, etc. This will make it easier to see what you have and where to put it. Make sure to throw away anything you won’t use or that’s expired.

Add Extra Shelves to the Freezer

I purchased a set of shelves off Amazon that fit perfectly in the freezer to give me more space to stack things neatly. It’s a great way to keep from piling everything on top of each other! I have these shelves!

Use Bins to group and store things neatly

Plastic bins are a great way to keep veggies together and other like items. This makes it easy to pull out the bin that you need and see all the options instead of digging through the entire freezer.

Vacuum Seal Your Food

We love our FoodSaver for sealing freezer foods! We actually make Freezer Smoothie Packets and a Month of Breakfast Sandwiches and we keep them fresh by using the vacuum sealer! It’s a great way to save space in the freezer!

Use Binder Clips

How genius is this little trick? Grab a package of Binder Clips and hang up some of those bags of veggies and fruits!

Remove Food from the Boxes

Use the bin advice and take everything out of the boxes and place in a bin. This gives you so much more space in the freezer!

Which one of these tips are you going to try? I hope they make your freezer a more enjoyable space instead of dreading opening that cold ice box!
