Toy Box Before and After

November 1, 2011   |   8 Comments

My little guy has had a toy box in his room for about six years now.  The color of the wood doesn’t go with anything else we have in the room.  But, it serves a function, so I hated to just get rid of it.
I decided what harm would it do in trying to paint it?  Really, paint only makes things better, Right?  I was crossing my fingers and hoping so.  I usually only paint things two colors Black and White.  So, this was a bit out of my comfort zone.  But, I busted out the sander and sanded it to death.
Here is a picture of it Before.
And here is what it looks like after!!  I love it!!  So, the top is stained in a Dark Walnut finish and the bottom painted blue with a bit of distressing and aging applied.

Oh, my.  It is so much better.  At least I think so.  My son, he wasn’t as impressed as I was.

Too funny! My son isn't usually very impressed either. If I specifically ask what he thinks, he will say something like “Yeah, it's nice!” and the immediately move on to the next thing. My girls are much more likely to compliment the things I make!
