Natural Cleaning Ideas
So many people are starting to realize that you don’t need all of the harsh chemicals to really clean your house. There are some key natural products that clean your house as well as anything you can buy in the store.
Using most cleaners can be a pain as some of the fumes released during cleaning can be pretty toxic. Natural cleaners are safe to use around both pets and children, and you can add other natural products to make them smell great!
There are a few main products that you can use to make various natural cleaners. Instead of using different cleaners for every room in your house, make just a couple natural cleaners that can be used for almost any job in any room.
Vinegar is a natural all-purpose cleaner. It works great as a disinfectant when mixed with equal parts of water. Fill up a spray bottle and can be used in any room of your house.
Whether you need to clean your counter tops, tub or toilet, this mixture will do wonders. Or just add a couple tablespoons to a spray bottle filled with water and use on your window and mirrors.
If you are not a fan of the smell of vinegar, you can always add a couple drops of your favorite smelling essential oils to make it smell great.
Baking soda is a great product to deodorize items around the house, including your mattress, carpet, fridge or just about anything. Sprinkle over things like your carpet or mattress, let it sit, and then vacuum it up.
The result is a much better smelling room. Again, you can even add essential oils to make it smell even better. Or you can make a paste out of baking soda and water to clean grout or even your oven or grill after a summer of baked on mess. Just let the paste sit on the area needing cleaning for about 30 minutes and then scrub clean.
Have a clogged drain? Just mix baking soda and vinegar together and pour down the drain. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and then run very hot water. This natural mixture should clear up most clogged drains.
You don’t need to buy harsh chemicals to clean your home. Try some of these natural products instead and see if it doesn’t clean as well as the other.
I have been using these items and making my own cleaning products for many years now. Much safer and cheaper than buying them and you know the ingredients.
I am always looking for natural cleaning recipes (3 of my daughters have very sensitive skin). So glad I found your site through The Better Mom link party. Bookmarked!
Up until a few weeks ago I had been battling with the (not so strict!) every few month job of cleaning the awfully stained cooker. We use it a lot – we have a big family and I cook meals pretty much every day leaving my wife to feed and rest with the youngest. One of the things I tried was looking for oven cleaning kent and oven cleaner sutton coldfield businesses – these guys know what they’re doing, but posts like this make me realise how much you can do on your own – especially with natural, non-toxic items from your cupboards! I’ve noticed on a few posts round the web about this kind of thing though that there isn’t a massive emphasis on using “clean as you go” techniques – which, combined with bicarb and things like vinegar or even salt, can really make your life so much easier! Great post, thanks a lot 🙂
I personally I avoid harsh chemicals at all cost. I use only handmade natural cleaners to clean my home. Thanks for the Tips! ;o)
