About two weeks ago, I was so excited to announce that I had been selected for an online photography class through Social Fabric and sponsored by Sears Grilling. I am at the end of week two and have learned some more great tips and information that I will be able to use!
Week two we have been working on the topic Path-to-Purchase. I’m sure many of you have noticed that I have been working with Collective Bias, through them, I have been lucky enough to test and review products.
So, just what is a path-to-purchase? It is actually something that each one of us do when we are preparing to make a purchase {except for those spur of the moment chocolate bars I grab at the check out}. A Path-to-Purchase, is the journey you took that lead you to your purchase.
Did you make a list? Did you research online? Did I go directly to the store or make other stops before going to the store? What did I notice in the store? Any special signs? Where did I find the product? Was there many competitors?
These are some of the questions that I think about and try to take photographs to document my answers.
This week my assignment was to visit a local Sears and create a Path-to-Purchase in selecting a new grill. What makes this assignment even better?? Sears is being so amazingly generous and providing me a gift card to go back and actually PURCHASE this grill next week! I feel so incredibly lucky to be apart of this class!
So, I set out to the nearest Sears, excited for this assignment and yet very nervous! I wanted to make sure I used the skills that I had already learned and showcased my photos as best I could.

One of the main tips this week was to keep the background “decluttered”. This is actually kind of hard to do when you are in a shop with LOTS of products. You can see in this picture where there is alot of background to distract from the actual grill that I was looking at.
But, in this picture, there is much less. Just taking a different angle of the grill made a big difference on what you see in the picture.
I love this red grill, I have been drooling over it for months!! It is so beeeeautiful! I would buy this one in a heartbeat, but I’m worried that my hubby may not agree.
This is the grill that I think is just perfect for us!
It has the NEW Infared technology!
It has the NEW Infared technology!
It is a gorgeous stainless steal, 4 burner with side burner beauty. Providing the ability to cook your steaks faster and locking in the flavors and juices! Not to mention you have the ability to grill at a range of temperatures from intense searing to slow BBQ!
But, back to the pictures! 🙂 Again, you can see how the products in the background may be distracting to this grill.
A different angle of the photograph, shows more of the grill and less of the background.
My photos are far from perfect, but they are leaps and bound better than before! I am so excited to learn more and apply it to my future projects!
I am so thankful to Sears and #Cbias for providing me with this fabulous #Grillingishappiness Photography course! #SoFabU

Last shot is a money maker – POPS a big time
Thankfully my upcoming shop shouldn't have too much in the background, but I love these suggestions and I love that grill, too! Shiny red is a great grill color!
