How many times have you been looking for a quick weekend trip idea but end up going to the same place over and over? If you’re like us, it’s hard to branch out when you’re not exactly sure what to expect from a new destination.
Last week I had the chance to spend a couple days in St. Louis at Chase Park Plaza with my boys and my Mom, we ended up having the best couple days and I wanted to be sure to share it with everyone so if you’re like us and want a last minute weekend trip before school starts, you can head to St. Louis.
Of course when I started to research Chase Park Plaza I was focused on the food – I mean food is my life. I was pleasantly surprised by three amazing restaurant options all located in the Chase Park Plaza Hotel. This means, you don’t have to drive anywhere to find amazing food.
Chase Club
Our first night was spent Overlooking the Mediterranean-style pool and terrace while enjoying dinner at the Chase Club. We had a beautiful evening outside eating on the patio. A couple of my favorite’s that I highly recommend you trying were the Crab Toasted Ravioli with a sweet chili sauce on the side and the Fish Tacos topped with avocado. My boys aren’t huge crab lovers but they inhaled the ravioli too!
If you love fish tacos, you need to try the ones at Chase Club and if you’ve never had fish tacos, you need to try the ones at Chase Club! They’re amazing!
The Preston
The Preston serves an eclectic menu using the freshest, local ingredients to craft bold flavors. Share some wagyu meatballs with crème fraiche, a smoked duck breast with celery root puree, or the chef’s special creation of the evening in a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere.
The Preston is a great restaurant to try a little of a lot of things. The portions are just big enough for a few people to share and enjoy together. Be sure to start with the bread tray and taste all the delicious breads and butters that pair with them. The Preston has it’s own in house pastry chef so these are a MUST have in my opinion!
Our favorite dinner item was the Pork Belly that was served with Brussels Sprouts, it was fabulous. My sons favorite was the NY Strip over a Charred Corn Puree, he inhaled this all on his own.
Make sure to leave room for dessert, The Chocolate Melt is something everyone needs to have at least once. It’s not just delicious but it’s amazing the way they serve it!
We also enjoyed brunch at The Preston one morning, they have an amazing buffet or you can order off the menu. There’s something for everyone!
The Tenderloin Room
The Tenderloin Room is a landmark St. Louis restaurant with a mastered-to-perfection menu. Family-owned and operated since the 1960’s, this elegant fine dining restaurant serves the city’s finest steaks with traditional mastery, as well fresh seafood, creative appetizers and a superb wine list.
From delicately prepared carpaccio to the seared Peppercorn a la Tenderloin, this classic steakhouse restaurant upholds a long-standing St. Louis tradition of succulent prime cuts prepared to mouthwatering perfection.
Accented by carved mahogany furnishings, crystal chandeliers, and elegant décor, the restaurant’s ambiance offers a refined and romantic atmosphere that sets the table for an incomparable St. Louis dining experience.
Things to do at Chase Park Plaza
The Pool
The very first thing my boys wanted to do when we arrived to Chase Park Plaza was take a dip in the pool. It’s not your everyday hotel pool either, it’s a little piece of heaven right in St. Louis.
The Mediterranean-style pool is surrounded by tranquil fountains, carved stone porticoes, and a romantic outdoor fireplace. Passing under the colonnade, immerse yourself in classical elegance and allow distractions to melt away.
Movie Theater
Yep, you read that right! There’s a movie theater right in the hotel area. You just pop down off the elevator and pick a show to watch!
A marquee of our historic charm, the five-screen movie theatre offers a uniquely intimate night of entertainment.
Before the show, stop in the lobby for freshly-popped, buttered popcorn or accompany your night with a refreshing cocktail from our theatre bar.
Settle into plush stadium seating to enjoy the newest Hollywood blockbuster in digital clarity or enjoy a glass of wine with a critically-acclaimed independent film.
Aveda Salon & Spa
I admit it, I spoiled myself on this trip with a little bit of quiet time at the spa. After painting and working on a home for a week, this was a much needed trip.
I had the 60 minute stress massage and I have to be honest, I had to try really hard not to fall asleep. It was amazing!
The Aveda salon is the perfect location to have a massage or facial or even schedule a much needed hair treatment or pedicure! If you need it done, they can probably do it!
Fitness Center
Santé Fitness & Wellness Center is a welcoming, intelligently designed fitness facility promoting physical and mental balance and energy.
The 18,000 square foot center is a sanctuary of health and wellness, from state-of-the-art strength and fitness equipment, to the calming spirit of the Mind and Body Studio. Greet the day with a renewing Sunrise Yoga session on the Starlight Balcony overlooking beautiful Forest Park.
Try a one-on-one TRX Training course, a cutting-edge exercise regimen developed by Navy SEALS. After an invigorating workout, relieve muscle tension with a 30-minute, stress-melting Thai or Swedish massage.
At Santé Fitness Center in St. Louis, MO, the advanced equipment and training programs are all designed “to your health.”
I had the chance to tour the top levels where brides from all over find the perfect location for their wedding day! Offering the most spectacular wedding reception venues in St. Louis, Missouri, The Chase is an enchanting setting for your fairytale wedding.
I can only imagine how amazing your special day would be at Chase! With everything you need in one location for your day, the hotel rooms, reception venues, spa and salon! You wouldn’t need to leave the building.
The Rooms
The rooms at Chase Park Plaza are nothing short of fabulous with spacious and inviting rooms that make you feel at home for the length of your stay. With everything from Deluxe rooms to Specialty Suites you’re sure to find the perfect room for your weekend getaway or honeymoon suite.
Our room was a queen suite with a living room area, work area and bathroom located outside of the sleeping space. There was plenty of room for everyone to stretch out in their own little corners to watch tv, work or catch a quick nap.
Other St. Louis Favorites
City Museum
One of the days we spent in St. Louis we decided to check out the City Museum. It was the only time we left the building but my boys say it was well worth it! If you haven’t been to the museum, add it to your bucket list! It’s a MUST do!
Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects.
The brainchild of internationally acclaimed artist Bob Cassilly, a classically trained sculptor and serial entrepreneur, the museum opened for visitors in 1997 to the riotous approval of young and old alike.
This is the ten story staircase that you ride down on a slide from! A SLIDE! Where else in the world can you do this?
This is the perfect place to spend hours exploring, climbing, sliding and so much more!
The next time you’re looking for the perfect weekend trip, check out Chase Park Plaza as well as some of the other fun St. Louis attractions. You may want to turn that weekend trip into a week vacation, we sure wish we had more time!
