If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know that last week I was at BlogHer in New York City. It’s an amazing blog conference where I met tons of awesome bloggers and brands. It was such a wonderful conference but I have to tell you that leading up to it, I was so torn about what to pack. What types of outfits to where, should I just use a carry on bag, and could I fit everything in a carry on bag?
I thought I’d share a little about what I packed so if you’re new to conferences and need a little advice, we can help!
The Carry On Bag
First, I have to recommend just using a carry on bag. I took this American Tourister iLite Xtreme 21″ Spinner. It was the absolute perfect bag for the job! I was able to get everything I need in the bag very easily with extra room to bring back all that swag we end up getting at conferences.
Finding a good carry on bag is extremely important, you need one that’s the right size and very sturdy but also with wheels that make it easy to navigate through the busy airports.
There’s also a handy top and size handles that make it easy to pick up and place in the over head bins. I am absolutely in love with this bag, it was the perfect carry on for the trip!
What to Wear
I was so torn about what to wear. Do I dress up or do I dress comfortable? The truth is, it would be great if you could do both. I mean, you are going to be meeting with brands and probably awesome bloggers. We always want to put our best food forward.
Here’s a couple outfits that I put together that I think are easily dressed up or down for the day.
Pink Dress / Earings / Shoes / Clutch
Blouse / Skirt / Shoes / Necklace / Clutch
Skirt / Shirt / Blazer / Shoes / Clutch
Essentials You Need
Of course there’s several other items you need to take with you to a conference. Here’s a list of just a few things that I would say are supper important and never forget!
- Business Cards
- Note pad
- Pens
- Mints
- Snacks
- Water Bottle (you’ll be glad you have this to keep filling)
- Cell Phone
- Portable Phone Charger
- Laptop (isn’t totally necessary but nice to have)
- Power Strip (usually plugs are limited so this is a great idea)
