Keep Calm and Drink More Tea!

March 28, 2013   |   13 Comments

Do you love tea?

I remember when I first started to love my tea, I was young and living at home with my parents.  Being in Iowa we made Sun tea in the spring and summers, it is a memory that I will always associate with those warm beautiful days.  Now that I am older, I drink a lot of hot tea, and sweet tea in the summers still.  My youngest son has even started enjoying his fair share of tea and I know the tradition of summer sweet tea will be carried on through him.

I love tea, there is something about a hot cup of tea that’s relaxing and soothing.  My absolute  favorite tea is Bigelow  Vanilla Chia.  It is amazing, you have to give it a try!  Actually, all of the Bigelow tea’s are delicious, there’s a flavor for everyone.

What a cup of Bigelow tea means to me

When I think of Bigelow tea, I think home.   I think of myself sitting on my back deck having a warm cup of tea with a slight breeze blowing my hair and the sun on my face; watching my boys play in the yard and the ducks just beyond them in the pond splashing.  Our Lives are so crazy and chaotic that sometimes we need to let ourselves stop and enjoy the simple things that bring us peace and happiness.

I enjoy my quiet moments of comfort and relaxation at home with my Bigelow Tea.  It has a calming affect for me that nothing else provides.  It makes me feel cozy and relaxed because I relate it to being home, a place that I love.   Bigelow is a brand that I am never disappointed in either, they have a product that I trust and a taste that I can count on to be exactly what I want, with each and every cup.

It’s no secret that I worry about things, probably too much.  Bigelow tea speaks to the inner worrier in me and convinces me to relax, enjoy life and love my tea.  There is actually evidence that shows how tea can lower your stress levels by lowering the amount of Cortisol in your body (stress hormone), making you more relaxed and at ease.

Do you know all of the benefits that tea has for you?  This is another reason that I love Bigelow tea, there are so many positive health benefits that you get out of it.  Here are just a few of them.

Health Benefits from Bigelow Tea

  • Tea is high in antioxidants, that means it slows down aging and helps with cell regeneration!  Studies even show it assists in preventing cancer!
  • Tea Lowers stress hormone levels by lowering the amount of cortisol in your body.
  • Tea may reduce stroke & Heart attack by helping to prevent clots.
  • Tea is linked to lower blood pressure, studies show it can reduce your risk of hypertension by as much as 50%
  • Tea also helps fight cavities by killing or suppressing bacteria in the mouth.

Did you see that little fact about preventing stroke and heart attack by helping to prevent clots? That’s a big deal, am I right? It’s a really big deal to me because I had a stroke when I was 30 years old (story for another day), so I am someone that drinking tea regularly would benefit. I’m not saying that is all I need to do, but if there is something as little (or big) as drinking tea regularly to help in the prevention of health problems, why not use it?  This is another way that Bigelow tea speaks to me, it is a product that reminds me of the importance of my health, how I value it and how I have control over using the right kinds of food and drinks to make it better.

Keep Calm and Drink Tea

Is it possible that if we all drank more tea, the world would be a calmer and more relaxed place?  Or that if we drink more tea, we will be healthier?  Possibly? Probably.  I just know that I am going to do my part to make a difference in my life while I  Keep Calm and Drink more tea.

My chai-loving husband FINALLY tried the Bigelow Chai for the Keurig instead of paying $4 a day at the coffee shop…and he loves it! I grew up drinking iced tea in OK, then learned to love hot herbal tea in college…it still is my go-to after-dinner, kids-are-in-bed, time-to-relax drink!

We’re big tea drinkers in our house too! Sweet at in the summer {actually year round} and hot tea in the fall/winter/spring… In fact, I think hot tea might be in order today – it’s chilly and sprinkling here!
