Christmas Treats: Peppermint Oreo Truffles

December 20, 2013   |   1 Comment

We are less than a week out from Christmas and we are making those last minute Christmas cookies and treats to share with friends and family.  This year has been such a strange year for me when it comes to baking and preparing for Christmas, I have been traveling, sick and working and it’s really interfering in the amount of cookies I can make!

I will always remember the year my friend, Traci, introduced me to the yummy little treat I called “Oreo Bombs”.  They are amazing and simple to make, they quickly became a regular at the holidays for our family.

This year I decided to change them up a little bit and add peppermint to the mix, chocolate and peppermint is the best flavor combination at this time of year.

How to Make Peppermint Oreo Truffles

Ingredients

  • 1 Package of Seasonal Oreo Cookies
  • 1 8 oz. Package of Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1 Package of Andes Mint Chips
  • 1 Package of CandiQuik
  • 6 Crushed Candy Canes

Ingredients

Step 1 – Crush the entire package of Oreo’s in a food processor

Step 2 – Mix your Oreo’s and soften creamed cheese together in a large bowl

Step 3 – Next, mix in the package of Ande Mint’s chips

Step 4 – After all ingredients are mixed well, use a small cookie scoop and form balls, place on a cookie sheet

Step 5- Place the cookie sheet into the freezer for 30 minutes

Step 6 – While these are chilling, melt your CandiQuik

Step 7 – Dip each ball into the CandiQuik and top with crushed Candy Cane

That’s it!  Very simple and no baking involved in making these little goodies!

You can make these without dipping them into CandiQuik but to be completely honest, they look terrible and not very pretty.  And, if you’re truthful with yourself, you want your trays of cookies to look amazing.  Am I right? At least that’s how I am, I want people to be impressed with how good my treats taste AND look.

Another options for these Peppermint Truffles, you could add sprinkles on top to give them a different look or you can make them with out the Andes Mint chips inside so you wouldn’t want to add the candy cane topping.

What are you making these Christmas season?  I’d love to hear your ideas and would highly recommend making these little goodies if you have time!
