Easy Homemade Dinner Rolls

November 29, 2017   |   1 Comment

Homemade Dinner Rolls are the first thing I think of making when it comes to a big meal at the holidays. There’s nothing quite like a warm buttery roll right out of the oven to help complete a meal.

Let’s be honest though, we’ve all had those dinner rolls that looked amazing but ended up being a solid rock or the flavor was a bit off or they didn’t really rise at all so were tiny dinner roll balls.

Easy Homemade Dinner Rolls

Yep, I’ll even admit that this has happened to me more than once or twice. I just didn’t get the recipe quite right and it was kind of depressing because everyone was looking forward to those perfect homemade dinner rolls just like Grandma used to make!

This recipe isn’t going to let you down though, the title says they’re easy to make and that they are. You’re going to love the simplicity of the recipe and just how delicious they truly are!

I know some people are going to look at this recipe and think – she’s got to be kidding – this is anything but easy. Trust me though, it really is quite easy and I believe that anyone can make these rolls!

How to Make Delicious Warm & Buttery Dinner Rolls

Ingredients You Need

  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant dry yeast
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
Instructions
  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm milk, yeast, sugar – let it stand for five minutes.
  2. Add the salt, butter, and eggs.
  3. Add in 5½ cups of flour.
  4. Using a dough hook, turn the mixer on to a low speed. Once the flour starts to incorporate into the dough, increase the speed to a medium range.
  5. Slowly add the remaining ½ cup of flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. The dough mixture should be slightly sticky and soft. You can add more or less flour as needed.
  6. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased mixing bowl. Cover with a towel and let rise 90 minutes or until the dough has about doubled in size.
  7. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Punch down the dough and form into 24 rolls.
  8. Place the rolls on the greased baking sheet.
  9. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
  10. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake the rolls for 12 to 14 minutes, until lightly browned.
  11. Remove rolls from oven and brush with melted butter.

Should the milk be warmed to a specific temp?
