Home Remedy Cough Tea

January 11, 2014   |   Leave a Comment

Home Remedy Cough Tea

It’s that time of year, everyone is getting the cold and flu.  At our house we have had it at least three times in the last few months, it feels like we are passing it back and forth to each other.  It’s miserable and I really dislike taking a lot of medications because I tend to react to everything so this Home Remedy Cough Tea is perfect for me.

My Mom suggested this recipe to me because she knows how much I love to take medications.  Instead of being groggy or shaky from cold medication, I just sip on a warm cup of tea and end up feeling a bit better.

How to Make Herbal Cough Tea Recipe

Ingredients

  • Hot Water
  • 2 tsp. Lemon Rind
  • 1 tsp. Sage
  • 1/2 tsp. Thyme (fresh or dried)
  • Honey

Instructions

Pour hot water over 2 tsp. lemon rind, 1 tsp. sage and 1/2 tsp. thyme ( fresh or dried herbs) cover and steep for 15 minutes.

Strain tea then add juice of 1/2 lemon and honey to taste drink two or 3 cups a day for relief

The Thyme, honey and sage help with chest congestion while the lemon contains Vitamin C.  Honey also helps to sooth sore throats, sometimes my little guy just asks for a teaspoon of honey when his throat is sore and it usually helps.

Have you been hit with the yucky cold and flu bug yet this year?  How do you feel better when you are under the weather?  I love to hear about home remedies that I can make with ingredients I already have in my kitchen.

*This is just my opinion and not the replacement of medical treatment, consult your doctor with any health concerns.
