It seems like Cheese Its are always on our grocery list of things to buy when we go to the store so I thought I would make my own Homemade Cheese Crackers to see how they turned out. If you like cheese these are going to rock your world! Seriously, they are amazing!
Making Homemade Cheese Crackers is really simple too, there’s only a couple ingredients that’s involved in the recipe and they take less than 30 minutes to make from start to finish. Simple!
How to Make Homemade Cheese Crackers
Ingredients
- 6 Ounces Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- 1/4 Cup Butter cut into pieces
- 3/4 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Milk
Instructions
Step 1 – Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
Step 2 – Shred your Cheddar Cheese if it’s in block form (or buy it preshredded)
Step 3 – Using a food processor, pulse the cheese, butter, flour, salt, pepper and garlic into coarse crumbs
Step 4 – Add your milk and process until a ball forms (I have to add a dribble more milk sometimes)
Step 5 – Roll our the dough on a floured surface so that it’s 1/8 inch thick, cut into 1 inch squares
Step 6 – Place the crackers on a well greased baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until the just start to brown. Store in an airtight container.
These homemade cheese crackers are a delicious snack on their own but are also delicious in tomato soup or salads too. I could eat an entire batch on my own, but I’m a cheese freak!
My boys say these are better than the store bought version and I tend to agree although the texture is not the same these are not quite as crunchy of a cracker.

That’s great! Thanks for stopping by!
I love Cheez Its, so you already know how much I am looking forward to making these. Thank you for pinning.
Yay! Thanks for the great comment!
Thanks for the recipe! I make my own crackers for my daycare, and this recipe sounds perfect! FYI; if you bake the crackers a bit longer, till they’re golden brown, they won’t taste burnt, but will be crunchier and will taste cheesier — like gourmet cheese nips 🙂
Thanks for this recipe! We usually buy Annie’s organic cheddar bunnies, but they get expensive! I will be making these soon. 🙂
I can’t wait to try this recipe! My DD loves anything cheese. Thanks!
