This is my brother’s recipe – he’s very creative in the kitchen and makes EVERYTHING! He created this Homemade Sriracha Sauce a couple years ago and I just found the recipe to share with you guys! It’s one that’s a little more involved but completely worth it if you like sriracha!
How to Make Homemade Sriracha Sauce
- 1/2 Pound Red Ripe Banana Peppers
- Bag of multi-colored Peppers (about 6 peppers)
- 1 TBSP Water
- 1 tsp salt
- 4-6 Cloves Garlic
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 1/4 Cup Vinegar
Instructions
Start by placing the peppers, water, and salt together in mason jars and let them sit for TWO weeks, shake them daily. Next blend peppers, garlic, honey, and vinegar together. Push the mixture through a strainer to remove any seeds or skin. Boil the entire mixture until you achieve the desired thickness. Enjoy!!
I like to add a little Sriracha Sauce to a lot of different recipes, I can’t handle a ton of heat in my food but just a little gives a lot of flavor. I had never even considered making my own until my brother shared some of his homemade sriracha sauce with me and I realized how amazingly good it was when you make it homemade!
To be honest, when he first told me he made it – I thought he was crazy. I mean, you can just buy a bottle for a couple bucks and you’re mixing it in a recipe. Why go to all the work of making it yourself? But, there really is a difference. Like anything – homemade always tastes better!
