Mini Apple Pie

January 24, 2012   |   18 Comments

One of my besties makes these delicious little treats at Christmas.  I was looking for a little birthday gift for my father in law, and decided to give them a shot.  They were so easy and super cute!!

First, you start with your crust.  I like to make my own crust, it’s really easy to make!  But, you could just buy the refridgerator pie dough and roll it out.
I used a large circle to cut out a piece for the jar, what I used was actually for pancakes, but it worked perfectly!
Push the crust in to the jar and then gently press it against the sides of the jars.
Make your pie filling and add it to the jars.

And then I just topped it off with a small amount of crumble topping.

You will need to freeze these after they are made until you gift them.  I included a note that said the directions for baking.  You place the jars on a cookie sheet and place them in a cold oven then turn the oven on to 375 and bake for 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.

I found these cute “made with love” printable at
Over the Big Moon.   She has four different colors to select from.

I use a pie crust recipe that I found on Allrecipes.
Apple Pie Filling

  • 2 1/2 lb. baking apples, peeled, cored, quartered and cut lengthwise into slices 1/2 inch thick

  • 1/2 cup sugar, plus more as needed

  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg

  • ½ cup maple syrup

Sharing is caring!

What a great idea. I love apple pie and usually eat almost the whole pie by myself. I love the built in portion control, bake some and freeze the others for later.
