Quick and Easy Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe
Many years ago, a good friend of mine gave me her pizza dough recipe to try. She was perfecting her recipe and I am always looking for different versions of pizza recipes so I though I would give it a try. There are tons of pizza dough recipes out there, but this is my go to recipe, since that day.Â
Making your own Pizza Recipes
I often wonder if people realize just how easy it is to make your own pizza dough or your own pizza recipes. There are very few ingredients involved and you can really personalize it to your families tastes.Â
Do you love a thin crust or a thick crust? Maybe you like having seasonings in your crust or even a garlic crust. Making your own pizza dough is a great way to make your pizza recipes just the way you want and you can get your family in on the fun too.Â
This is such an easy recipe that my boys are able to help me and we have even made personalized sized pizza’s so they could each top their own.
Easy Steps to make Pizza Dough
Making your own pizza dough involves just a few simple ingredients, I have them all on hand at any given time so it makes creating my pizza recipes pretty easy.
Here is what you need (all seasonings can be adjusted to your preference):
-
1 package yeast
-
1 cup hot water
-
1 tsp sugar
-
1 tsp salt
-
4 TBSP Olive Oil
-
2 1/2 cups Flour
-
1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
-
1 TBSP Italian Seasoning
-
1 TBSP Garlic
Directions for making pizza dough.
- Mix Yeast, hot water and sugar together and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Next add the oil and seasonings.
- Flour is added last.
- Let sit for 10-15 minutes
This is what your pizza dough should look like.
After your pizza dough has rested for the ten minutes, you can form the dough into the shape you would like. You can make a traditional style pizza, pizza rolls, French bread pizza, etc. There are so many different pizza recipes that you can make from this easy pizza dough.
After you have your pizza dough in the shape of a pizza (or the shape you want), you are ready to top your pizza. I used a homemade pizza sauce (Thanks, Mom!), sausage and lots of cheese on our pizza. You can use any toppings that your family loves with their pizza though. I use pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, onions and many other options when I have them. Be creative and make a personalized pizza recipe that your family will love.Â
One thing that I like to do with our pizza, is to brush the crust with a little butter and add some garlic salt to the edges. It just gives it a little extra flavor when you get to the crust of the pizza.Â
You will want to bake your pizza for 20-25 minutes or until it is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.Â
Enjoy! You made your own pizza dough and pizza recipe from scratch!

What size crust does this make?
can this be frozen?
The crust was fantastic! I hate cooking, but this was fun and delicious!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Just wanted to let you know that I used this recipe the other night and it was really good. I have tried to make homemade pizza crust in the past, and it’s always turned out tasting similar to those boxed Chef Boyardee “make your own pizza” kits. This is the first time I did it where it tasted like actual, good pizza without that taste! I will for sure be using this recipe again.
