Minnesota is known for it’s brutally cold winter’s, just yesterday my boys were outside sledding in the negative temperatures. Bundled from head to toe, they ended up sledding for over an hour with their friends, you just have to embrace the weather and push through the winter months if you want to have any fun outside!
The first thing they always ask for is Hot Cocoa when they get back inside and I like to have my Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa going and ready for whenever they ask. They certainly deserve this treat after enduring those cold temperatures. I’ll always remember my Mom making hot cocoa for us after we spent hours sledding on the “big hill” by the school, now days when we’re back home that hill certainly looks little but the cocoa is just like I remember it!
How to Make Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa
Ingredients You Need
- 1 1/c Cup Heavy Cream
- 1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 ounces)
- 2 Cups Milk Chocolate Chips
- 6 Cups Milk
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract (I use Rodelle)
- 2 Teaspoons Peppermint Extract (optional)
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients together in the slow cooker and place on low for 2-4 hours.
Top the Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa with Marshmallows, Whip Cream, Chocolate Chips, Sprinkles, Chocolate Drizzle, etc. Enjoy!
You can also make an adult version by adding some Peppermint Schnapps to your Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa, I would suggest NOT adding it to the slow cooker but letting those who want it in their drink add it to their one cup. That way there is no confusions when kids are around!

This looks delicious!!! Cab’t say that it is quite as cold in NC, but I still want to run out to the grocery store right now and pick up ingredients!
