Strawberry Fridge Cake

June 27, 2017   |   5 Comments

Deliciously Simple Strawberry Fridge Cake that’s the perfect summer dessert recipe for BBQ’s!

Strawberry Fridge Cake

This recipe turned out better than I could have expected! It’s the perfect combination of strawberry and cake – almost like a strawberry shortcake recipe! We’ve made it three times in the last two weeks now and every time, it’s gone within hours thanks to the help of my boys, parents and even Grandparents!

How to Make Strawberry Fridge Cake

Ingredients You Need

  • 1 Strawberry Box Cake Mix
  • 1 16 oz. bag of frozen Strawberries
  • 2 TBSP Sugar
  • 2 TBSP Water
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Milk
  • 1 Box Vanilla Pudding
  • 1 8 oz. Container Cool Whip
  • Strawberries for Garnish

Instructions

Start by making your strawberry cake according to the instructions on the box. Next, blend the frozen strawberries with 2 TBSP water and 2 TBSP Sugar. Using the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes in the cake after it has cooked and cooled. Pour the blended strawberry mixture into the holes of the cake. Next, mix together the vanilla pudding and milk. Fold in the Cool Whip and spread over the cake. Top with fresh strawberries for garnish. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours! Enjoy!

Strawberry Fridge Cake

This is such an easy recipe that Kids in the Kitchen is making a 4th of July cake version using the recipe! They’re making strawberry and blueberry pokes in the cake and designing the top as a flag! Be sure to tune in to check out the details and see exactly how to make it!

It was very hard to get frozen strawberries to become liquid with only 2TLBS of water. I ended up mixing in mixer. Still did not pour like the video showed. Never went all down in the holes. What was your secret?

The Strawberry Cake Mix didn’t call for butter. It called for oil. The pudding and milk mixture was too stiff with the Cool Whip. It was very hard to spread on top of cake…didn’t cover the cake. Was additional Cool Whip used to make it look like the picture?
