Yep, you read that right, I made Chocolate Cake in the Slow Cooker and it was delicious! This is the first dessert that I’ve attempted to make in the slow cooker, but I had heard other people trying to make cakes, crumbles and crisps so I thought I’d give it a shot.
It was a deliciously moist and perfect chocolate cake, the only problem, it doesn’t come out of the slow cooker in nice little pieces but it tastes amazing!
I made a chocolate cake in my slow cooker last night. If you line your cooker with baking paper, making sure the paper is taller than the cooker it will be easier to lift the cake out. I also put a tea towel under the lid to stop condensation from dripping onto cake. Mine only took 1 1/2 hours on low.
That is a great tip Carol! I will try that the next time I make a slow cooker cake. Thanks for stopping by!
Quick question: Can you double this recipe in a large crock pot? Thanks, I would love to make this for tomorrow. Thanks in advance 🙂
Absolutely Kris! If it fits, it should cook fine.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your family enjoys it.
I too have made this cake and it is indeed very v ery moist. I however like to keep things simple and simply cut out all the fatty stuff. One box of triple chocolate cake mix and one large box of chocolate pudding . I cook the pudding according to directions in the microwave and add the choc cake mix after it’s cooked, mix together well. Pour into crockpot, low 3-5 hrs depending on your crockpot or cook in a greased 9×13 pan at 350* for 25-35 min. That’s it and if your particularly lazy like me you can mix the pudding and cake mix in the baking pan or crockpot, no dishes!! Great with ice cream, choc sauce or whipped cream. Yum Yum!
Just curious…how did you make the chocolate sauce that you poured over the cake? Thanks for the recipe! My parents used to get a chocolate sour cream cake from a bakery in New York when we were kids. Can’t wait to try this!!! Thanks again!
This is delicious!! We stayed true to the recipe and it was SO moist. To add onto the already insane richness we got some Reeses peanut butter chips as well and folded them in along with the chocolate chips. We served it with ice cream and some Reeses shell topping. It was amazing! One recommendation (not to do with the recipe) is if you are someone who enjoys using the crock pot liners I would recommend skipping the liner for this recipe because mine melted off of the top so we only ate the middle! Either way, excellent recipe!
Yum! I love the idea of using the peanut butter chips! I”m trying that next time! Thanks for the tip!
I know you said it didn’t come out pretty . I used Wilton’s cake release instead of a spray. With pot holders of course, I very carefully flipped it over onto a large platter. Beautiful! After topping w the chocolate sauce, whipped cream and some chocolate chips, even more beautiful. Becareful flipping, it is a bit heavy and awkward.
