Easy Fish Tacos and Sauce
We were on vacation in Arizona recently and after some recommendations from friends that were once locals to the area we were in, we tried a couple Mexican restaurants. We had some delicious food and I found that I really liked Fish Tacos (minus the spice). So after we got home, I decided to give it a try and make my own Easy Fish Tacos with a delicious sauce. I hope you enjoy the recipe!
How to Make Easy Fish Tacos
Ingredients
- 1 lb Tilapia ( You can use other types of fish too, this is just what I had at home)
- 1 Half Lime
- ½ Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- Salt and Pepper
Ingredients for the Sauce
- ½ Cup Sour Cream
- ½ Cup Mayo
- 1 half lime, juiced
- ¼ Teaspoon Dill Weed
- 1 Teaspoon Fresh Cilantro
- ¼ Teaspoon Oregano
- ¼ Teaspoon Cumin
- ¼ Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
Extra Ingredients you Need
- Lettuce
- Fresh Cilantro
- Pico De Gallo
- 12 Small Tortillas
Instructions
Step 1 - Melt the butter in a small saute pan and then add the fish
Step 2 - While the fish is cooking season each side with the garlic powder, salt and pepper - if you like your fish tacos spicy you can add some cayenne pepper and cumin as well.
Step 3 - Let the fish cook about 5 minutes on each side before transferring to a plate and squeeze a bit of lime juice over it, if the fish falls apart that's fine
Step 4 - To make the sauce mix together the sour cream, mayo, seasonings and lime juice until it's well combined
Step 5 - Construct the Fish Taco by warming the tortilla and then adding the lettuce, Fish, Pico De Gallo (or plain tomatoes or salsa works) , cilantro and topping with the Fish Sauce. Enjoy!
I played with my sauce for a while to get it the way our family would like it best, I'm not a spicy food lover so the recipe does have more of a cilantro kick to it, which I love. But you could easily modify it to fit your tastes.
