Plus, it only costs a few cents to make this recipe, that means a money saving idea that you will want to use even if you’re not trying to eat healthier!
Some of you might look at this recipe and think, what the heck is she doing – making her own ketchup?! So, I did it for a couple different reasons. First, because I wanted to see if I could actually make ketchup that tasted good – I’m kind of finicky when it comes to ketchup and the taste.
I love tomatoes but not so much the ketchup. I had never given it a thought that I might be able to make my own, and like it a little bit better. Don’t get me wrong, I always put ketchup on my burgers and it tastes great but I’m not a person to dip my fries in ketchup or put it on eggs (blahhh).
The second reason I wanted to make homemade ketchup is that my hubby, a couple friends and I are on a 30-day clean eating diet and boy is there a lot of sugar in store-bought ketchup. It did NOT go with the diet plan! One of the meals I’m making is homemade meatloaf, and I was beginning to wonder how it was going to taste without ketchup – so the challenge was set and it ended up turning out pretty darn good!
Last week we had an amazing Beef and Mushroom Slow Cooker Stew that was clean eating approved! It was really good too, I’m having a blast coming up with new recipe ideas and making them the way that our family will love them.
It’s actually pretty easy to make your own homemade ketchup and I would say it’s one of the least time consuming of the easy paleo recipes. Check out the recipe below!
