Homemade Peanut Butter Cups Recipe

December 18, 2013   |   Leave a Comment

I cannot believe that Christmas is about a week away and I have not been baking!  I was up last night planning all the different treats and Christmas cookies that I wanted to get busy making over the next few days.  It’s going to get a little crazy!

I thought about what my kids love for cookies and since I’m short on time, I decided to either make the ones they love or make cookies with their favorite ingredients.  So, today I made some Homemade Peanut Butter Cups that were delicious!  My oldest guy is going to be so excited when he see’s these.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups are simple to make too, you use only a couple ingredients and end up with a gooey chocolate and peanut butter treat that’s to die for.

How To Make Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 Bag of Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Cups of Peanut Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 TBSP. Butter (softened)

Instructions

Place 12 liners in your muffin pan.

First you will want to melt your chocolate chips, I stuck mine in the microwave for 30 seconds then mixed it well, microwaved for 30 seconds again.

Fill each cup with chocolate, I used a small cookie scoop to fill mine.  Stick the pan in the freezer (or if you’re like me and live in Minnesota on your back porch) for 15 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened

Next, mix your peanut butter, softened butter and sugar well.  After your chocolate has hardened add a layer of peanut butter over the chocolate.  Let this harden in the freezer for 15 minutes again.

Add another layer of chocolate over the peanut butter and let it harden again.  This made 12 peanut butter cups, you could use a mini muffin pan and make 24 peanut butter cups instead.

The peanut butter does eventually become a little soft, as you can see in the photo but these are still delicious and totally worth making!

I keep my Homemade Peanut Butter Cups in the freezer until Christmas when we will be enjoying them.
