Orange Margarita is the perfect blend of citrus and tequila in one delicious drink. Serve this cocktail at breakfast or on your patio this summer. It’s a versatile beverage that everyone will love!
Sweet, tart and refreshing with a tequila kick, this Orange Margarita is everything you could want in a drink. It’s fun, has familiar ingredients that are easy to find, and is easily customizable by making non-alcoholic (if you’d prefer it that way)!
Warm weather is just around the corner. Here in Iowa, in fact, we had a 50-degree day just yesterday! It made me think that I should be cleaning off my porch and breaking out the grill, so we’re ready to have friends and family over for some BBQ and drinks on the deck.
Boy, am I ready for warmer weather—especially after making this light and refreshing cocktail. Either that or I need to head down south and visit a warm sunny beach! This cocktail is a splash of sunshine in a cup that makes you want to lay out in the sun and enjoy life.
The key to making this refreshing cocktail is using a great orange juice brand. You really can’t just buy any orange juice at the store—some brands taste fresher than others. I’ve found that Florida’s Natural brand is the best option for making this cocktail. It’s only got one ingredient—oranges from Florida farms—which I think contributes to a super-fresh taste.
Over the last year, we’ve been lucky enough to partner with Florida’s Natural on several different recipes, including our Vodka Lemonade Iced Tea and Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Ice Pops. It really can’t be beat as a cocktail mixer.
This Orange Margarita is a nice change from mimosas—especially for people like me who love tequila. This cocktail could easily be served with brunch, too! We’re having an early Easter/spring celebration this year with my family and I think this will be a great option to serve the adults at brunch.
I know a salted rim on a margarita isn’t for everyone, but I personally love it! You can salt the rim, use sugar or just skip it altogether. With this margarita, I tried sugar and salt to see which tasted the best and I personally think that salt is the way to go!

How to Make Orange Margarita
Ingredients You Need
- 1/2 Cup Florida’s Natural® Brand Orange Juice
- 1/4 cup Tequila ( I used 100% Agave)
- 1/4 cup Triple Sec
- Splash of lime juice
- Ice
- Orange & lime for garnish
Instructions
Start by placing the ice in the bottom of the glass. Next, pour in the tequila and triple sec. Add the orange juice last. Stir. Then add a splash of lime juice and the garnishes. Enjoy!
Tips for Making the Orange Margarita
I like to pour the alcohol into the glass first and the orange juice last. This helps to mix the drink slightly.
If this is too tart, add a bit of the sweetener of your choice!
If you like to shake your margaritas, pour all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake. Pour over the ice in your glass.
This recipe makes one drink, but you could easily increase the amounts to make a pitcher full for your friends and family!

Great question, Scott! I would probably use a club soda or even Sprite and see how it tastes!
