Tin Foil Meal: Sausage and Potato Hash

August 31, 2016   |   2 Comments

I cannot believe that today is the last day of August! Summer flew by and boy did we have fun!  Early in the year we decided to buy a camper to use during the summer and fall months.  It was by far one of the best decisions we’ve made and the memories that we’ve made camping will last a lifetime.

Heading into fall it’s sad to think about putting the camper away for the year so we’ve decided to make our camping last longer and instead of packing our shorts and t shirts we’ll just pack sweatshirts and pants and make the best of the chilly fall weather.

Besides just being outside and spending time with the family, one of my favorite parts of camping is making delicious campfire food.  Back in May we had our first Crawfish Boil while we were camping that will be a yearly tradition from now on.  It was a blast!  My boys love to find new Campfire Dessert Recipe Ideas to make each time – I think that brownies over the fire are they absolute favorite!

Something I like to do is make Foil Packets over the fire because they’re really easy to put together and the clean up is a breeze!  Recipes like this Sausage and Potato Hash that’s full of cheesy and our favorite Johnsonville Brats make the perfect meal out camping! Make our Tin Foil Grilled Peaches along with this recipe and you’ll have a meal your family will never forget!

Tin Foil Meal: Sausage and Potato Hash

How To Make Sausage and Potato Hash

Ingredients You Need

  • 1 Package Johnsonville Brats – we used Beef Brats
  • 1 Package of Diced Frozen Hashbrowns – You can cut up Potatoes for this too
  • 2 Cups Shredded Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Diced Onion
  • Garlic Salt
  • Pepper
  • Non Stick Spray

Instructions

Lay out your Tin foil and spray a coating of non Stick spray over the foil

Add a layer of hashbrowns

Cut your Johnsonville Brats into chunks and add them on top of the hashbrowns

Top with the onion, cheese and all seasonings

Fold the tin foil up until you make a nice package with it

Grill over the fire for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Enjoy!

Yum! Yum! I love potato hash and sausage but I’ve never tried having both in one dish. Thanks for the recipe! I’m excited to make it.

This looks like such a delicious, satisfying meal. This would be perfect for camping trips since it’s made in foil.
