Finding delicious, simple and healthy recipes to make isn’t always easy. It seems like I can find something healthy to make but it requires 100 different ingredients that I can’t find to make it taste edible or on the other side I find a delicious looking recipe that uses 6 cups of butter and 1/2 a quart of heavy cream.
This is the problem with healthy recipes, I love flavor and my heart says make the recipe with all the buttah but my waist line thinks differently. When I find an amazing tasting healthier recipe, I hold on to it and make it over and over because they just don’t happen very often.
One of the local Minnesota grocery stores, Rainbow, has taken a step to make eating healthy even easier, their new Health Key system that was unveiled recently will make finding the ingredients you need for healthy recipes simple.

While I was out shopping, I found the easy ingredients to make one of our favorite meals. You are going to love this one, it only takes 3 ingredients and you make it in the slow cooker! Amazing! Are you ready for this, it’s so easy!
How to Make Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken
- 3-4 Chicken breasts
- 1 Jar of Salsa/Picante Sauce
- 1 Package of Taco Seasoning Mix
Step 1 – Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker
Step 2 – Mix the salsa and taco seasoning together and pour it over the chicken breasts.
Step 3 – Let it cook on low for 4-6 hours before shredding and adding to your whole wheat tortillas
If you want to be a little un-healthy, add some cheese and sour cream to your salsa chicken. We have eaten this on a bun, over rice and with potatoes. There’s lots of yummy options!
This is a healthy recipe that anyone can make, using only three ingredients and a slow cooker you will have a delicious meal ready to go!
