Hey, everyone! I am so excited to share one of my favorite new salads with you. This is the perfect salad to use at your upcoming Labor Day BBQ that is right around the corner. If you are like me, you are already starting to plan your parties and what you will make.
I love Caprese Salad and decided to put a little twist on it and make a Caprese Pasta Salad that was full of my favorite vegies, pasta, cheese and dressing. Not only is this salad delicious but it is simple to make! The perfect summer BBQ recipe option!
A typical Caprese Salad usually has tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and a balsamic vinaigrette. I altered this salad by adding in some red onions and pasta to the mix. This has become one of my easy recipes that I make for family and friends on a regular basis. I hope you enjoy!
How to Make Caprese Pasta Salad
Ingredients
- 2 Cups of Cooked Pasta
- 1 Cup of Cherry Tomatoes Rinsed and Halved
- 1/2 Cup of Red Onion Diced
- 1 Cup Mozzarella Cubed
- Fresh Basil Chopped
- 1/4 Cup Trader Joes Balsamic Glaze
Instructions
Mix all Ingredients together in a bowl and refrigerate until serving.
This is not only an easy salad to make for Labor Day or any other summer BBQ event that you have going on but it is also incredibly delicious! If you love Caprese Salad, you will love this twist on it!

This is the perfect salad. DELICIOUS!
this looks delicious. Thanks for the recipe
I’ve done this too, both hot and as a cold pasta salad. (We too love caprese and do many variations of it – Sometimes with carrots and/or cucumbers for a little crunch and black garlic is also another “bonus”.) One note though … I don’t love the Trader Joe’s Balsamic glaze, as it has grape juice too – Better is a pure balsamic glaze. Here in SoCal, I’ve found at Whole Foods, but for a less expensive option, Fresh & Easy has a pure reduced balsamic, which is way better than the TJ’s.
We had caprese pasta salad just last night. It’s the perfect time of year for it with fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden. But we go back and forth about adding the balsamic directly to the salad. Some are for and some not. Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from Titus 2 Tuesday.

Love that combination so much and may try to make this with gluten-free noodles, though sadly I will have to sacrifice one of the most important parts of this salad: the cheese. Sigh.
The photos are outstanding. I’m hungry!

Saw this on Gooseberry Patch and it really caught my eye! How wonderful for this time of year!! Can’t wait to give it a try.
Caprese salad is my absolute favorite summer dish. Fresh homegrown tomatoes, a quick lunch and I’m in heaven.
Your salad is making me hungry and I haven’t had breakfast. I agree toss in some pasta and you’ve got yourself a delicious Caprese meal.
Yum! That looks so good! I will definitely make this for my annual Labor Day BBQ. Thanks so much for sharing.
